MA, Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate

Pronouns: she/her

Whatever it took for you to come here today: Thank You.

I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate working out of my home-office in Tantallon, Nova Scotia and online via ZOOM. I provide adults and young adolescents with client-centered psychodynamic talk therapy.

I received my Masters of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University out of Fredericton, New Brunswick in June of 2012. This included a supervised practicum with Dr. Janet Couper at Pair O’Docs Inc. in St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. In addition to my Masters, I have an undergraduate degree in Education- Specializing in Teaching English as a Second Language from Concordia University in Montreal, graduating with Distinction. I spent three years teaching ESL students in both public and private schools as well as to executive professionals in Montreal. I served as the Director of Religious Education and Youth Pastor at St. Thomas More Parish in Nova Scotia for 5 years, working with junior high youth and young adults. I also coached competitive speed skating in Halifax and was selected Head Coach for the 2015 Canada Games Short Track Speed Skating Team. I believe that successful outcomes in therapy depend on the quality of the therapist-client relationship. My experience and training provide a foundation for developing a meaning connection with you to move you toward a place of healing.

My approach to therapy is eclectic in nature, drawing on techniques and principles from different theories, uniquely adapted to you and our conversations. I use primarily psychodynamic talk therapy - helping clients recognize how past issues, patterns, and relationship difficulties can inform present difficulties, then finding strategies together to facilitate change and growth and move you toward healing.

I have been described by my clients as supportive, non-judgemental, respectful of diversity and radically honest; I push. I will ask the uncomfortable questions others may avoid so that we can reflect and collaborate together on uncovering the deeper truth. Only there can we find clarity, broader awareness, brand new understandings, possibilities, next steps, and resolutions.
