Why Should I See Someone?

There are times when trying to cope with a problem or negotiating your way through a relationship or difficult life situation can leave you feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or even depressed. When these emotions come up and cause us to question what direction to turn, it can be helpful to speak to a therapist.

Psychotherapy — including online therapy — can bring a new, clearer perspective to difficulties that you are experiencing. You may find an improved way of understanding and responding to a situation, or discover an alternative path that feels more aligned with what you need and value.

For many people, these challenges are shaped or intensified by life transitions — including midlife changes, caregiving responsibilities, identity shifts, or the emotional and cognitive effects of hormonal changes such as perimenopause or menopause. These experiences can quietly affect mood, resilience, concentration, sleep, and emotional capacity, often without being immediately recognized as part of the picture.

Some of you may find yourself asking the question, “Am I okay to be seeking therapy?” And the answer is yes. Absolutely anyone can pursue and benefit from therapy, and it’s completely okay — and human — to need support at different points in life. Therapy doesn’t mean that you’re “broken” or a “mess”; it simply means you’re responding thoughtfully to what you’re carrying. Online therapy offers the opportunity to work with a skilled therapist from the comfort of your own home, and to take the next step at a pace that feels right for you.
